The Learning Consultant Sr. is responsible for enabling business growth, high-performing organizational culture and outstanding associate experiences by providing learning and development consulting services for the design and delivery of world-class learning programs that attract, grow and retain diverse, top talent associates. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Consult and partner with Anthem business leadership, HR Business Partners, Talent Strategy Directors and Learning and Leadership Development team members to:

  • Analyze, select, design and implement learning and development solutions to improve business performance and address business needs

  • Gather voice of the customer feedback and insights to refine and ensure learning programs and experiences remain relevant and impactful for the business

  • Ensure alignment of learning program goals, outputs, and measurement with overall talent strategy and key talent segments

  • Lead matrix teams through the end-to-end process of identifying learning needs, developing and designing solutions, implementation and measurement

  • Represent Enterprise Learning and Development as a learning expert with HR, talent Strategist and LOB leaders, recommending learning solutions as appropriate and leveraging influence to gain agreement on optimal solutions to learning needs

  • Act autonomously in day-to-day management of learning projects, escalate appropriate information in a timely manner and continuously prioritize work and resources

  • Manage to aggressive timelines that exceed internal client expectations

  • Embed inclusion and diversity practices into programs to increase associate engagement and retention

  • Conduct needs analysis and evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions

  • Lead learning and development initiatives involving multiple contributors and stakeholders, often with competing priorities

  • Oversee and manage large and/or complex projects, markets or initiatives

  • Partner with internal clients, partners and teammates on project charters, scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budgets, and timing to ensure project success

  • Track and report on project milestones

  • Manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved

  • Determine if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete the project plan and recruit and manage appropriate vendor resources

  • May conduct virtual and in-person training or develop instructional or reference content as necessary to ensure timely and accurate implementation of learning solutions

  • Serve as a coach or mentor for other learning consultants and learning associates across Learning and Leadership Development when partnering on projects/initiatives

  • Manage programs, as assigned or requested on an ongoing basis, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to brand standards and world-class participant experiences.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Requires BA/BS degree in business, education, instructional design, or other learning discipline; 7 years of experience, including 5 or more years of project management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Experience designing and implementing end-to-end learning solutions in a large, growing, and complex business

  • Specialized expertise in two or more learning & development processes, including but not limited to leadership development, professional development, corporate university development, instructional design, or learning/performance consulting

  • Demonstrated success at leveraging contemporary employee development models and technologies

  • Experience assessing, selecting, and managing vendor partners to deliver learning programs

  • Experience in “academy” organizations and/or Fortune 100 companies known for strong HR and/or leadership development practices

  • Significant experience in an Anthem business may substitute for learning experience

  • Understanding of best practices regarding business case and measurement strategies for learning effectiveness

  • Understand client-specific processes and key drivers of performance

  • Deep knowledge of learning technology capabilities

  • Deep knowledge of prevailing learning trends across the healthcare industry and other competitive, external markets

  • Deep knowledge of virtual meeting platforms and technologies to enhance learning experiences

  • Certification in Performance Consulting (or equivalent) preferred
