Responsible for applying release, implementation and change management methodologies/procedures to ensure the goals and objections of each release are accomplished on time through following established release planning processes. This release management position(s) reside in the Enterprise Release Management area. The incumbent must have the ability to analyze information from different application/infrastructure release management areas and ensure that all areas are operationally ready to implement. This may include but not limited to, assessment and resolution of release risk, monitoring pre-release health, identifying the impact of at risk work efforts, tracking, reporting and assessing impacts of open and deferred defects, status/closure, oversight of release quality KPIs, dependency analysis, milestone tracking, downtime analysis, and the implementation timings of different areas. Impact analysis and resolution of potential issues, release weekend status reporting and issue management, and release fallout is also included.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Coordinates and responds to requests for release management support including emergency patches/fixes and determines the impact of the scheduled release.
Facilitates release planning and status meetings; monitors and documents that all release components cross functional dependencies and tollgates are met.
Provides analysis and insight to release management teams, leads the release planning meetings for multiple platforms and project releases, manages Enterprise Releases, prepares and communicates success or failure of the release to management.
Defines the release management approach, resource staffing requirements and timeline for each release.
Leads maintenance release deployment activities, assigns and coordinates technical resources, manages the implementation timelines, facilitates troubleshooting efforts and coordinates timelines and dependent implementation with other release managers, project teams and IT technical support resources.
Prepares and publishes release notes and leads lessons learned meetings to improve the release planning process.
Provides leadership in defining standards and procedures for release statistics reporting and documentation.
May also mentor other release coordinators as required
Requires 5+ years IT experience and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or knowledge of and proficiency in release Management or project management methodologies; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
BS/BA, multiple trade certifications or other continued education preferred.
3+ years project management in a leadership role preferred
Innovative and strategic thinking, attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
Experience in testing, SDLC, operations within IT and Business preferred.
Experience in Agile Methodologies, SAFe, testing, SDLC, operations within IT and Business preferred .
DevOps and Cloud release management experience is a plus.
Experience with DevOps tools such as Urban Code Release, Digital.ai/XebiaLabs (XLD/XLR), Bamboo, Bitbucket, JIRA and SN is also a plus.
