Tech Project Manager

Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for the management of one or more projects. Responsible for applying project management and SAFe/Agile Principles, skills, tools and techniques to meet project deliverables and delivery quality products to our customers. Works with business and tech partners to identify and implement multiple technical projects of varying sizes, as defined by GBD Execution methodology, such as broad-based information systems, full life-cycle application development, building enterprise applications or data warehouse planning and development. Manages projects at least $1M in size or equal complexity. Directs system analysts, software designers and programmers to determine best methods to achieve project objectives. Works with moderate guidance and is responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. Operates within defined parameters using project management methodology. Below are the TPM’s responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to gain agreement on scope, approach, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and budget

  • Coordinate with all stakeholders and dependent projects to develop detailed program schedule or agile release plans

  • Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance

  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team

  • Managing the project process and project internal communications

  • Removing all possible impediments across all assigned initiatives

  • Coordinates requirements, schedules implementation and post-implement plans, and develops service-level agreements

  • Acting as a champion to educate the business on how to maximize ROI and meet objectives through agile development

  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work

  • Defines critical path/project success factors

  • Establishes and manages the project warranty period

Qualifications

BA/BS in information systems or related major; minimum of 3 years project management experience and 3-5 years experience in broad-based information systems, full life-cycle application development and/or building enterprise applications and/or data warehouse planning and development or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of 5 years experience in project management during which at least 2 years are spent working in a lead role on one or more projects. Project Management Professional certification (PMP) preferred. Experience in creating an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiation, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, managing resources in a matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization required. Demonstrated application of project management methodology required. Knowledge or experience with project management tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools required. Requires an understanding of the overall organization. Experience working with portfolio management applications and Rational tools preferred.
