Staff VP New Business Development, Medicaid (Capture Management)

The Staff Vice President of New Business Development is responsible for leading a large team in a highly matrixed environment to win Medicaid managed care business. Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Explores, defines, and executes strategies to drive membership and operating growth to support Medicaid procurement activities.

  • Establishes and develops collaborative relationships with growth partners, health plan leaders, division presidents, and stakeholders to develop winning strategies and identify risks and opportunities.

  • Delivers top ranked technical scores for Medicaid RFPs.

  • Ensures RFP responses are compliant and compelling, best showcasing Anthem’s differentiating capabilities, monitors and adjusts growth strategy.

  • Advocates throughout the organization for competitive capabilities based on team research into competitor capabilities and differentiators.

  • Evaluates and leads continuous improvements for growth strategies maintaining a culture of high excellence and accountability.

  • Leads all aspects of activities to protect core membership and defend margins.

  • Evaluates product and capabilities and develops strategies.

  • Hires, onboards, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports and retains highly qualified staff, including a strong complement of Business Development resources.

Reports to: VP & Chief Growth Officer - Medicaid

Direct reports: 7 – 8

Location: Remote


  • Requires a BA/BS degree (MBA preferred) and a minimum of 10 years experience in related field; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Travel up to 30%.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in capture management and/or business development.

  • Direct experience with Medicaid managed care proposals strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key business partners including influencing and change management at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven track record leading and winning bids in capture, procurement, and/or business development pursuits.

Annual Salary Range*: $168,000 - $220,500

Actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
